How It All Began

The Heartwarming Journey of Lotus Sky and Our Four-Legged Friends began in 2021 when our founder, Sarah, embarked on a life-changing trip to Nepal. While exploring the vibrant streets of Kathmandu with our studio manager, Sangye, they encountered a heartbreaking sight: an injured and abandoned dog struggling to survive. This elderly dog, too frail to take care of himself, was in dire need of help.

Without hesitation, Sarah and Sangye rushed the dog to a veterinarian, where they learned that he was malnourished and suffering from illness from being abandoned by his previous owner. Because of his condition and advanced age, the prognosis was bleak.

Bato's Journey

Filled with compassion, Sarah and Sangye brought the dog back to their studio, naming him Bato, with the hope of providing him a safe haven in his final days.

As Sarah sought a permanent home for Bato, she discovered a dog rescue camp in Kapan, Community Dog Welfare Center, close to their studio. Determined to make his last days joyful, Sarah and her team showered Bato with love and care, providing him with nutritious meals and companionship. Within a week, they witnessed a remarkable improvement in his condition, and the artisans in the studio rejoiced at his newfound vitality.

Tragically, despite everyone's efforts, Bato passed away, leaving behind cherished memories. In Nepal, the loss of a beloved pet is deeply felt, and Sarah and Sangye wanted to give Bato the burial he deserved. They reached out to the Kapan Community Dog Welfare Center, who kindly assisted them in arranging a proper cremation for their dear friend.

A New Mission

Visiting the rescue center officially revealed the staggering reality of over 100 dogs in need of care and attention. Inspired by the dedication of the center, Sarah made a significant donation to support their mission. Soon after, she organized a team of six studio workers to visit the center and walk the dogs, sparking an idea that would transform their approach to animal welfare: Why not sponsor dogs every month?

With this vision in mind, Sarah encouraged her team to choose dogs to start a new chapter for Lotus Sky to sponsor. Through this initiative, she began to cultivate relationships with the dogs at the rescue center, bringing joy to both the animals and the team.

From Scruffy to Kali

Among the dogs, Sarah found herself drawn to a small, calm female dog named Scruffy. Although she wanted to adopt her, Scruffy's health complications made it difficult, and Sarah had to return to her home country. However, three years later, destiny brought them back together. Scruffy is now Kali, and she has been living with Sarah for over five months, thriving in a loving home.

Today, Lotus Sky continues to sponsor dogs in need, with monthly donations ensuring ongoing support for the rescue center. Each act of kindness and compassion fuels our mission, reminding us that every life matters. Through our journey, we have learned that love knows no boundaries, and the bonds we create with our furry friends enrich our lives immeasurably.
